What is Earth Hour?

Earth Hour is a WWF initiative that began in 2007 in Sydney, Australia when 2.2 million individuals and more than 2,000 businesses turned their lights off for one hour in a stand against climate change.
A year later Earth Hour has become a global sustainability movement with more than 50 million people in 135 countries to show their support to this cause to symbolically turn off their lights.



Global landmarks such as the Sydney Harbour Bridge, CN Tower in Toronto; the Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco; the Colosseum of Rome, among many others, went dark as symbols of hope for a cause that became more urgent every time and in any part of the world.
